At the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater (UWW), I was hired as an RA for the brand new building on campus, New Hall. Throughout my time in this position, I gained many skills and refined already-existing skills to become an even more versatile and valuable professional.
I had many responsibilities including building community amongst my residents, enforcing UWW policies and procedures, building and maintaining relationships with my residents, being a knowledgeable campus resource, and many more. This job allowed me to refine my conflict-resolution skills, my communication skills, my administration skills, etc. I also gained many skills including community development, planning engaging programs, balancing my authoritative role as RA and my role as friend to my residents, etc.
Being an RA was very valuable to my professional career, and through that position, I was also able to make a positive impact on many UWW students.
