Formal
Hello Zetas!
So we are still getting information together for formal and would LOVE some input. Please leave any feedback about what you would like to do or see at formal, and anything you may not enjoy. Jeni and I want this to be fun for everyone. I know its impossible to please everyone but to make this the best trip possible we need your input! When you go to comment please put “anonymous” in the name, and for the e-mail please put “anonymous@uww.edu.” Thanks so much for the help. AND remember… time is closing in on us so the sooner you give input, the more likely it is to have an effect on our plans.
Thanks again!

P.S. Some ideas of things to write about: Is there a specific hotel you would like to stay at? What price range are you ok with? Do you prefer suites or a row of rooms( keep in mind our group is much larger than last year and two suites will not give everyone a bed)? Would you like to stay more than one night? Do you intend on bringing a guest?
Many of us would really like to have formal at the Great Wolf Lodge again. We had fun hanging out in the suites, and also at the waterpark, even if some of us didn’t swim or go down slides. I know that Mt. Olympus has rollercoasters too, but they probably won’t even be open when we go in early April. I really liked having the suites last year because there was plenty of room for the group to all hang out together in, play games, and snack on goodies. It might cost us more to get a couple extra suites, but we also have more people attending. The numbers should even out if we have enough people to fill the rooms. If not, we could always get one or two suites, and then a few small rooms as well. The reason for formal is for all of us to hang out instead of it being like a field trip or vacation. We want to experience the “Zeta family trip” again, and keep our tradition.
February 21st, 2008 at 8:21 pmall very good suggestions that will be taken into consideration. just as a reminder though, mt olympus also has an indoor theme park.
February 22nd, 2008 at 9:35 amThis is my first Zeta trip, but I think that getting one or 2 suites and then smaller rooms is a good idea. I definitely want to bring a guest, in fact, I already asked my roommate to come. As far as dinner goes, I heard good things about Marley’s and we could go with a tropical theme then. However, I would like to dress up formally. I don’t even remember what the hotel options were, but I prefer the one that is least expensive. Either way, almost any hotel will be nice. We may be able to even get a package deal with our group being so large. I wouldn’t mind staying more than one night. It will be fun!
February 24th, 2008 at 11:04 pmI think that the idea of a few suites with some nearby regular rooms is a good idea too. We can all get together in the “party suite” lol and then sleep in our own rooms… whether it is great wolf or kalahari… I’m sure it will be fun either way
February 25th, 2008 at 2:31 pmI really liked going to the Great Wolf last year, and prefer to go there again if we can. I am planning on bringing a guest also, and as far as a location for dinner, I don’t have a preference. I also think getting suites will be more fun, plus we had plenty of room for everyone last year.
February 25th, 2008 at 5:19 pmThis will be my second trip to the dells with Zeta, and I just want to say that last year was AWESOME. There were boundaries yes, but not too many. We had the freedom to go where we wanted, when we wanted, other than dinner and a quick informal meeting with Eddie in the big suite. I think if we get too many separate rooms, we will be limited to the amount of interaction we have with each other. We had so much fun playing different games in the suite last year! Spring formal is supposed to be the time that we all spend to get to know each other on a more personal level in a relaxed environment. Also, by getting two or three suites wouldn’t we be spending less money by splitting it between more people?
February 25th, 2008 at 5:53 pmDo we even have a price comparison? It would be nice to see a spreadsheet or something that would show rates between different hotels as well as between different room options, and including the number of people who would be splitting it.
February 25th, 2008 at 6:43 pmThis will be my second formal with the Zeta family and have to say I really enjoyed last year. I didn’t know what to think of Formal and last years accommodations were great. I feel we need 3-4 suites and can also get a few small rooms.
Have you taken the Wilderness into consideration…? I know they have lodges and why couldn’t we do something like that…
Or Timber Ridge Lodge and Water park in Lake Geneva even has a water park (not sure how big and stuff) but its just another idea.
I now a lot of people like the whole mt Olympus but remember those are little kid rides so much fun can us college students have…
February 25th, 2008 at 7:24 pmI honestly would prefer going back to Great Wolf since I felt it accommodated all of us.
I agree, I would prefer also to go back to the Great Wolf. I really liked the rooms we had last year, and I think that there was plenty of space for everyone to hang out. Also, I’m not totally sure, but I don’t think some of the other suites at different resorts have a nice kitchen area like we had. That will definitely make a difference in amount of space we have to fit everyone in a room, plus it will give us somewhere to keep all of our yummy food and drinks! So, if I had to chose right now, I would say it would be so much fun to go back to the Great Wolf.
February 25th, 2008 at 8:19 pmI am totally up for getting suites, because if you have to get alot of rooms for only a couple people to a room, we will all end up paying more money in the end. Is that right?
February 25th, 2008 at 8:33 pmI took some time to do a little research (instead of studying…oops) and this is a brief view of the price chart I came up with. These WILL NOT be the final prices for us to attend; it is only to get an idea of how much we MIGHT be spending and to compare locations:
Timber Wolf Condo – Great Wolf: 56 total people; 14 people/room; need 4 rooms = $64 per person (same set up as we had last year)
Wolf Pack Loft – Great Wolf: 54 total people; 9 people/room; need 6 rooms = $111 per person
Double Queen Suite – Great Wolf: 56 total people; 4 people/room; need 14 = $199 per person
**Village Suite Special – Kalahari: 48 total people; 12 people/room; need 4 rooms = $50 per person
Studio Suite – Mt. Olympus: 56 total people; 8 people/room; need 7 rooms = $56 per person
Queen Family Suite – Mt. Olympus: 56 total people; 4 people/room; need 14 rooms = $107 per person
4 Bedroom Frontier Condo – Wilderness: 56 total people; 8 people/room; need 7 rooms = $113 per person
Double Queen Sofa – Wilderness: 54 total people; 6 people/room; need 9 rooms = $62 per person
I repeat: These prices are approximations only, NOT THE FINAL PRICE!! I also just estimated some numbers for people attending (including guests and alumni). I did notice that many of the rooms are much smaller than where we stayed last year, and do not have all the accommodations. You might want to check out the rooms on the websites for yourselves before deciding. While there are other options at all these locations, these are the rooms I found that would best suit our group and that were available for the weekend we wish to go. I hope this helps!
IMPORTANT: **These rooms are not available for the days we want to go, but I wanted to put them in here to compare prices.
February 25th, 2008 at 8:48 pmi like the idea of going back to the Great Wolf as well. We all had a great time together, and having the suites gave us the chance to stay in a room with other members in the org that we might not have known so well. We did have a TON of snacks and what not, and having that large kitchen area was so helpful when it came time to breakffast and getting motivated in the morning. Plus, that nice LARGE fridge was helpful since we can tend to be a thirsty crew. If we get all single rooms, smaller fridges and no serving/gathering place. I vote for as many suites as we can get.
February 25th, 2008 at 9:51 pmThe major problem with something like the lodges at the Wilderness is the security deposit. It is MASSIVE… and they dont hold many more people than the suites do. We’d probably save money by getting the suites.
Can we rent a tiger? or a lion either one works
February 26th, 2008 at 10:58 amI like the condo/lodge idea… I like Marley’s too… and I plan on bringing a guest
