“Since its founding in 1955, McDonald’s has sold well over 100 billion hamburgers.”(Zone). McDonald’s is a very big business that has grown since Ray Kroc started to sell franchises for Dick and Mac McDonald. Today, McDonald’s has a large impact and almost everyone probably has seen an advertisement from McDonald’s. The McDonald’s advertisements, displayed on Jimmy’s page, are from a couple of different locations, them being Japan, Egypt, Mexico, and Russia that displays similar and different angles to market to different select groups of consumers.

First, the Japanese advertisement was different from that of Egypt’s, Mexico‘s, and Russia’s advertisement. This is because it was simple and easy to understand to imply what it may mean. Personally, I had the feeling that the advertisement was trying to imply that the McDonald’s burger is delicious because they made the prop look really good. In addition, the advertisement shows an attractive women. So, you have an attractive women and a burger that is looking pretty good. Combined, they give you a feeling that McDonalds is trying to let the consumer know that you will find attractive women at McDonalds, possibly. This advertisement was similar to the others because it showed the food or other businesses’ food to try to appeal to your hunger.

Secondly, the Egyptian advertisement was different from Japan’s, Russia’s, and Mexico’s advertisement. This is because it demonstrated that McDonald’s food is so good that a person would do anything to eat there food. This was similar to the other advertisements because it showed McDonald’s as a nice and clean place inside which makes a desirable place to eat since the food is sanitary. In addition, it showed a restaurant that had colors that seemed to make a comfortable environment.

Thirdly, the Mexican advertisement was different from the rest, not just because it was hard to understand because my culture and perception is different, but because it used an approach to appeal to the younger generation while the other advertisements has older actors. In addition, it used a kid that was good at skateboarding to show that he eats McDonald’s so why doesn’t other kids his age especially kids that skateboard. This commercial was similar to the rest it showed why you should eat at McDonalds. That is because it is a nice and welcoming environment that is better then its competitors.

Fourthly, the Russian advertisement was harder to understand since I don’t speak or understand Russian and it really didn‘t make too much sense. This is because my culture is different from theirs. However, I did notice that it was different from the others because it showed breakfast food and coffee. The others did not display this so I am assuming that people in Russia normally don’t always eat at McDonald’s unless maybe in the morning and possibly they need food quickly. Other then that, I did not notice anything. This advertisement was similar to the others because it did show the food that McDonald’s makes. In addition, the food was made to look really good so it would make you want to go eat their food.

In conclusion, McDonald’s used different advertisement approaches for different countries around the world because they are trying to target different people that have a different culture. By appealing to a consumers needs, they will be more likely to purchase your product.

Another ad that is interesting is the Bridgestone commercial because it is funny and makes it stand out in a persons memory.  By this standing out in a person’s memory, it makes it so you recall Bridgstone Tires when you think about the commercial.  The link is:    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BaQI-nWgKwQ&feature=related

The Brand name is the Milwaukee Iron Works.  The slogan of our business could possibly be “Overcome” or possibly “Brother Iron; Sister Steel.”  I feel that these could work for our business because they relate to lifting weights and boxing.  “Overcome” relates to both boxing and lifting because it motivates one to continue moving forward when life becomes hard and never give up.  “Brother Iron; Sister Steel” relates to lifting weights.  This means, at least to me, to continue lifting even though waking up at 6:00a.m.   sucks.  In addition, I do not feel like lifting some heavy ass weights; however, by lifting the weights, they will help make me a better person, so they are my friends.

YouTube Preview ImageWell, I am not too fussy when it comes to brands.  When I purchase a product, I make my decision based on the price and quality of a product.  However, there are some products that I do base my purchase off from the brand.

The price of a product is very important.  The reason why the price is important is that I am cheap; I am not afraid to admit that.  I have a minimum wage job, and I have to make my money stretch far as possible.

In addition, the quality of a product is important, too.  Having a product that is durable and lasts for a long time is the goal.  Having a product that does what it is suppose to do and holds up makes it so you do not have to buy another product shortly after buying the original.

Although, there are some things that I do base my purchase based off the brand.  This is because I trust the product, and I know that it will meet all my expectations.  For example, when I buy workout supplements, I will only go through Bulk Nutrition.  They sell various brands that I trust.  Some of these brands are Universal, BSN, and Ultimate Nutrition.  They meet my expectations and provide the results that I am seeking.

When purchasing products, I base my decision on the best price and quality.  However, there are some products that I trust and will only buy because they always meet my expectations.

College is going good! I have started to become use to the college life. It being a little more from the last post I made, but it’s an improvement. Even though I haven’t adapted all the way, I am doing good. I still have a large work load for the most part. In addition, I’m starting to get use to being away from my friends and family.

Even though I usually tend to have a large work load, I find a way to get it all done before it’s all due. I accomplish this by designating a certain time of the day specifically for doing homework. I stick to working in till I finish at least a chunk of the work.; I then I take a small break to get my mind off work. Once I finish the break, I go straight back to work other wise I will find myself going to go play pool or something. So, the work is not as bad anymore, however, I hate having to study for big tests. For example, the WOTA test that is tomorrow.

Being away from my family does not bother me as much anymore. I am getting use to being away from them. I can see them on the weakened. Though, it does suck when I have to work the whole weakened. I don’t see them because I wake up early to go to work, and I will come home late from work, so they’re asleep. The same kind of thing happens with hanging with my friends on the weakened. I cant hang out with them because I will work all day, and I will come home to do homework in till I go to sleep.

So, homework is not as bad because I’m getting use to it, but I hate tests. Also, being away from family and friends sucks, but I am becoming friends with people up here so those relationships substitutes the family and friends need, somewhat. I guess college is going alright at this moment.

“More than 100,000 U.S. deaths are caused by excessive alcohol consumption each year (Council).”  Over consumption of alcohol and the consumption of illegal drugs is a complete waste of time.  Some of these drugs include: Marijuana, LSD, Heroin, Cocaine, and Methamphetamine.  The only result of consuming these products is becoming unhealthy, loss of money, and possibly one’s life.

The consumption of these products affects one’s health.  Over consumption of alcohol on a regular basis can cause the liver to fail.  Over consumption of these products affects the brain.  The brain will develop disorders that will cause mental confusion, difficulty with muscle coordination; also, overconsumption of alcohol on a regular basis can cause a fatal brain disorder known as hepatic encephalopathy.  The long term affects of drugs use can cause respiratory problems, lung damage, cancer, impaired judgment and can cause other organs to be affected.

Once a person becomes addicted to drugs or alcohol, their body will demand them.  Because the body will demand the consumption of these substances, the person will do anything to get it.  A person will spend all of their money to purchase more.  If a person does not have the money, they will begin to sell their possession.  Also, if a person becomes so dependent on the use of these illegal substances, they will steal the possessions of others to be able to buy more.

Losing your life to these substances seems unlikely, however, it occurs quite a bit.  People will participate in binge drinking.  People will also overdose on illegal drugs.  This is because the human body just simply can’t handle the consumption or mass consumption of these products. Adults, especially college student, will drink and drive, or don’t know their limits which will cause the loss of their lives.

The only result of consuming drugs or the overconsumption of alcohol is becoming unhealthy, loss of money, and possibly the loss of one’s life.  It is so stupid and a complete waste of time to become involved in these kind of things.

The transition from high school to college is somewhat hard.  The college transition is hard because of a couple reasons.  For example, the workload is larger, there is a lot more responsibility, and being away from family and friends is hard for a first year student.

The workload is larger then that of high school’s work load.  The workload is harder because there is more reading.  Also, there is more tests, quizzes, and more work period.  I say this because I have so much work ahead of me that I tend to become overwhelmed.  I’ve had to take breaks and re-establish the mindset of taking one thing at a time instead of thinking about all that I have to do.

The responsibility is greater than that of high school.  In high school, the teachers would remind my fellow students, and I about the assignments that were due.  In college, I have to constantly check D2L, and my e-mail to see when and if any assignments are due.  Also, I have to go to meetings for my classes which were unheard of in high school.

Being away from the parents is also hard.  Don’t get me wrong; I like getting away from my parents, but i’m so use to being around them, I just kind of miss them.    Being away from my brothers and sister isn’t so easy also.  I grew up with them, and they’re pretty much all I know.  Also, I miss hanging out with my friends.  During the summer, I would almost hang out with them every day.

In conclusion, the college transition is somewhat hard because I miss my family and friends, the work load is larger, and the responsibility is larger.  However, I believe I can adapt to the different environment, though, it will just take a little time.
