While this shouldn’t be news to most I wanted post here saying that we have successfully selected a new WCMS product. That product is the Ingeniux CMS. We are very excited about this system and the possibilities it offers the university. We will be starting the planning process for the implementation this week and will continue to communicate to campus through this blog and the project Web site.
If you have any questions please feel free to post a comment I will answer them the best that I can.

After Vendor presentations and a good amount of discussion, We have selected our two finalist vendors. Those being Ingeniux and Ektron. Both systems offer us an excellent platform to empower you as users to develop engaging and full featured web sites, and allow us the web team to get the most out the products with our current resources. With this decision made we have brought both systems in-house and will begin testing them for the next week to determine which of the two systems will be the right one for campus.

In order to get your input into the presentations we’ll be seeing from our vendors I wanted to give you all an opportunity to voice your thoughts or concerns about each vendor or if you just have questions for a vendor that I can ask them and get a response and report back to the whole group.
So in the upcoming days as we go through each session I’ll be writing one post per vendor and letting you comment on the blog or if you’d rather send me your reactions or questions via email that would be fine too.
I look forward to your responses

Last week our request for information (RFI) was sent out to 11 vendors ranging in market-place from enterprise to supported open source vendors. The RFI was compiled using requirements gathered both from the user group and iCIT technical staff in order to best return quality responses and really help us proceed in finding the right CMS for UW-Whitewater. The list of selected vendors is available on the WCMS website.

The WCMS project team along with the WCMS users group have finalized the requirements for finding our next WCMS. Most of the emphasis in the requirements deal with content creation and management, the overall user experience of managing content and technical details put together by iCIT staff. The detailed list of requirements is available as a PDF on the WCMS web site.

iCIT has formally started it’s search for the campus’ next Web Content Management System or WCMS. What does this mean for you? For most users nothing, the WCMS is completely transparent and has little if any effect on your usage of the UW-Whitewater website. For those you manage Web sites, it has a great impact. As eventually we will be switching, from our current WCMS Collage to the new system that this project will select.
In the coming months this blog and it’s companion Web Site will provide you with project updates and other important information regarding the project and it’s progress.
