It’s Time to Take the Plunge!

This year marks our 3rd annual Whitewater Polar Plunge. Sponsored by Special Olympics of Wisconsin with assistance from UW-Whitewater and the City of Whitewater, the event raises thousands of dollars each year to assist individuals with disabilities. Plungers will be jumping into an icy cold pool of water at Cravath Lakefront Park, located on Whitewater Street. For raising $75.00 or more, plungers will also earn t-shirts, sweatshirts and other swag.

Too chicken to plunge? Chickens willing to raise money for Special Olympics will receive special seating and similar gifts.

UW-W Greek Life Advisor Rick Daniels will be emceeing with guest judges for costumes: UW-W Police Chief Matt Kiederlen, UW-W Rec Sports staff members Jen Kaina and Therese Kennedy, and UW-W Residence Life staff member Sara Dood. That’s right, there are prizes for the best costumes, too!

Plunging begins at noon and runs until 3pm. Need transportation? Plungers and spectators may park at the UW-Whitewater Visitors Center (map) and hop a free bus down to the park. Transportation, donated by Nelson Buses, will cycle continuously from 10am until 4pm.
