Faculty and Staff Involvement Fair

Uncategorized No Comments

It was a great pleasure to spread the word of our club to the faculty and staff at University of Wisconsin- Whitewater. We always love to see some new faces showing interest in our community involvement.

We were able to discuss some upcoming events that we have planned for the community this fall. We can’t wait to get things rolling this season.

For those of you that missed out on the involvement fair, no worries! We will be having a meeting Wednesday, September 5th at noon in the University Center, room 68. We’d love to see you there!

Gyro Stand

Uncategorized No Comments

A big thank you to all Optimists and friends of the Club for the time and energy given to the Gyro Stand fundraiser at the Whitewater Forth of July Festival!

Even with the unpredictable weather, we still had a successful event, raising $4,435. The money raised during the Gyro Stand helps the Optimist Club to be able to fund other events throughout the year, such as Breakfast with Santa, the Easter Egg Hunt, Youth Appreciation and Recognition Luncheons, Scholarships, Free Fishing Day, etc.

For more information about upcoming Club events, please see our Facebook page. We are confident that the funds from this event will continue to support the youth of the Whitewater community throughout the 2018-2019 year!

Whitewater, help us help Whitewater!

Uncategorized No Comments

The Optimist Club needs help!!! We have many work shifts at the 2018 Gyro Stand to fill but not enough available members for this year’s event.

Can you, the Whitewater public, help?

There will always be a club member at the stand to “lead the way.” If you can handle a kitchen utensil to put gyro meat, tomatoes, onions, or sauce on a pita, or wrap the pita, or take tickets and hand out made gyros, then you can help! (And we would greatly appreciate it!!)

Use this link to sign up and help us help Whitewater.

Annual Easter Egg Hunt

Uncategorized No Comments

Happy spring season (despite the snow on the ground)! The Optimist Club would like to take this time to say thank you to everyone who attended our Annual Easter Egg Hunt on Sunday, March 18. We had a wonderful time with the children in helping them to find Easter Eggs and introducing them to the Easter Bunny. We hope that the fun has continued with the well-deserved treats that were handed out and that we helped to welcome the spring season!

The Annual Easter Egg Hunt

Uncategorized No Comments

It’s time to kick off the spring season with the annual Easter Egg Hunt! The UW-Whitewater/Community Optimist Club is excited to host the event on Sunday, March 18, from 2:00pm-3:00pm at the Whitewater Middle School. The Easter Egg Hunt will happen rain, snow, or shine, so mark your calendars! Children of the Whitewater community, who are 5th grade and younger, don’t only get to collect Easter eggs, but they also have the chance to meet the Easter Bunny and McGruff the Crime Dog!

We encourage that they bring a basket or bag to hold all of the eggs that they find. The plastic eggs found by the children can be exchanged for a small bag of treats. Some of the Easter eggs are “Special”, and can be traded in for a larger basket of treats.

For more detailed information, please see the Easter Egg Hunt 2018 Press Release for reference.

We look forward to seeing you!
