We help students expand and develop their knowledge and skills of HRM on top of what they learn in the classroom. SHRM is a recognized community for exchanging ideas, developing professional relationships, and increasing HR knowledge overall.
Who would you recommend to join your organization?
We are open to all majors and minors at the University. Related majors in the Arts and Communication College could also benefit from being a member of SHRM.
Why should students join your organization?
Students will get a chance to meet, converse, share ideas, and develop both personal and professional relationships with your fellow HR classmates, professors, and business major students alike. It is vital that you have adequate insurance if you are going to have customers visiting your home premises. Your residential insurance more than likely won’t cover business-oriented activities. Along with covering liability, getting business insurance has the added benefit of typically covering your machinery and furniture.^

oo often, managers do all the talking in a feedback situation, something I like to call the dreaded Manager’s Monologue – and that is guaranteed to cause trouble. It is vital to engage the employee in open dialogue; to seek to understand their thought processes and reasons. If you don’t listen to them, you may not get a clear understanding as to why the employee is behaving in this manner (do they lack skills, knowledge, etc). You will also increase the likelihood that they will not listen to you.-

Human resources is the set of individuals who make up the workforce of an organization, business sector or an economy. “Human capital” is sometimes used synonymously with human resources, although human capital typically refers to a more narrow view; i.e., the knowledge the individuals embody and can contribute to an organization. Likewise, other terms sometimes used include “manpower”, “talent”, “labour”/”labor” or simply “people”.-^*;
