From Alexa:

“Hi everyone! My name is Alexa Haase and I am excited to join the ICIT team. Two fun facts about me are that I have one dog and am an only child. I grew up in Galena, IL, which is about two hours away from Whitewater. I am a transfer student from UW-Platteville, majoring in human resource management.”

You can find her in the front office. Stop in and say hello!

Welcome, Rachel Drettwan!

Rachel Drettwan first joined  ICIT in February of 2021, as a Student PeopleSoft Developer. Under Mike Olson’s mentorship Rachel completed over 20 assignments to improve student facing WINS functionality, including: SF screen shows wrong enrollment reason, legal name change error, resize popup for Additional Ways to Search, and add more department associates to Academic Org. Rachel graduated from UW-Whitewater in May 2021 with a degree in computer science and Spanish. She is currently pursuing a graduate degree in computer science at UW-Madison.

We are pleased to announce that Rachel has decided to continue her work for UW-Whitewater in a position of PeopleSoft Developer Associate starting in September 2021.

In this role Rachel will continue development of WINS features and functionality. For example, she is currently working on a project for Student Financials to address tuition calculation issue with ONLINE BBA students.

We wish Rachel a continued success in her career and academic pursuits.

Welcome, Eric Loepp!

On behalf of the entire ICIT organization, we would like to welcome Eric Loepp as the new Director for Learning Technology with the LTC. Eric’s primary responsibilities will include:

  • Collaborating with departments, colleges, and other partners on campus to identify learning technology priorities
  • Supporting and evaluating technology adoption on campus and online
  • Promoting connections among instructors to share best practices related to teaching with and through technology
  • Overseeing the curation of resources and expansion of professional development opportunities for instructors

Most of you know Eric as he has been a faculty member at UW-Whitewater for 6 years in the Political Science Department. His teaching and research center on public opinion, campaigns, and elections, as well as technology-based teaching and learning. He is also active in numerous organizations and initiatives on campus, including the Faculty Senate and Warhawks Vote.

In his new role with the LTC, Eric will continue to teach, research, and serve as a member of the UW-Whitewater faculty. He is excited to utilize connections with students, staff, and instructors to develop ideas and innovations that will enhance the learning experience for Warhawks across campus.

Eric is originally from Portland, Oregon, with educational stops in Virginia and Pennsylvania in route to Wisconsin. When he is off-campus you will likely find him playing his guitars, studying for his pilot’s license, or cheering for his favorite sports teams. A freshly-minted uncle, Eric is also plotting exciting adventures and deniable mischief with a very special Warhawk from the Class of 2042.

We are thrilled to have Eric join our team, please take some time to welcome him when you can!

Thank you, Dane Seckar-Anderson!

Hello ICIT, I felt that it would be awkward and self-centered to write this blog post in the 3rd person, so here it goes!

I am sad to say that my final day with ICIT will be on Friday, August 13th. I have accepted a new position that will keep me closer to home and cut down on the long commute from Germantown to Whitewater.

I joined ICIT in May of 2017 as the Senior Communication Specialist. Over these past 4+ years, I worked to improve the perception of ICIT among the UW-W campus and drive home the idea that “ICIT is your technology partner.”

Some of the proudest moments during my time here has been growing the footprint of ICIT campus relations through SOAR events, The Tech Open House, Social Media, and our Governance groups. I am also proud of the updated communication channels that we have worked to improve including a modern Connect IT newsletter and the updated IT Service Pages.

My new opportunity will be with Northwestern Mutual as the Manager of Digital and Printed Media. I will be responsible for all communications with customers, both through print and digital channels. This includes onboarding new types of work, acting as the relationship owner with key partners on new projects, and leading the cooperation and partnership of external vendors to support team goals.

I would like to say thank you to everyone on the ICIT team for making these 4 years truly special. I was fortunate to work with many of you on numerous projects, several were true collaborations. A special thank you to the managers and the LTC team for your kindness and support during my time here. Finally, I want to thank Elena for giving me this opportunity and for always pushing me to bring out my best.

I will miss you all!

Thank You, George Vu!

George Vu’s final day with ICIT will be on Tuesday, August 10th. On behalf of the entire ICIT organization, we would like to wish George the very best in his next opportunity.

George joined the ICIT team a little over 14 months ago as the Director of Administrative Information Systems. He was immediately plunged into the deep end during an unprecedented global pandemic.

Some of George’s proudest accomplishments included building strong relationships with business leaders and their departments, developing an electronic method to request, monitor, and manage project requests, and coordinating ICIT resource efforts for COVID-initiated projects.

In his new opportunity, George will be working for Advocate Aurora Health.  His role will focus on partnering with stakeholders to develop comprehensive technology solutions, managing vendor and partner relationships, supporting procurement processes including contract negotiations, and other technology initiatives driven by the organization.

Please take some time this week to congratulate George on his new opportunity!
