News and info from the HawkCard Office – September 21, 2011

Hi Everyone,

This week’s Purple Point info:

  1. You can charge Purple Point deposits to your student bill until 3:00 pm, October 7th! They don’t get added instantly to your Purple Point account like credit card deposits do but it is a way for you to keep many/most of your UW-W expenses combined in one place on one bill.
  2. Students, you can stop in the HawkCard Office, UC 250, and ask for a report to see how much you have deposited or spent this year so far or for part or all of last year. That info may help your budgeting of Purple Points. Our office won’t release this information to anyone else without your written permission.
The question was emailed to me “What happens to my Purple Points at the end of the semester? Do I lose them?”
  3. The answer is “No you don’t lose them.” Your Purple Point balance rolls over each term-to-term and year-to-year. Your Purple Points never expire while you’re in school, so you don’t have to worry about losing them on some end-of-school-year date. You can get a full refund of any remaining balance greater than $25.00 when you graduate or withdraw from the university.
  4. Use your Purple Points on-campus and off-campus.
  5. A shout out this week for Warhawk Alley in the UC! They accept Purple Points for bowling, bowling shoes and billiards. Yes, UW-W has its own on-campus bowling & billiards center, a great place to meet up with friends!

This week’s Meal Plan/Dining Dollar info:

  1. Saturday, October 1st, is Family Fest  at UW-W. You WILL be able to use your meal plan at the picnic from 10:30 am – 1:30 pm in the Kachel Field house at Williams Center. Sorry, you can’t use a “guest meal” during that particular meal period. Be sure to check the Family Fest web site for many additional details, including how your family can sign up for the picnic and/or football game and/or other events.
  2. To get the most value from your meal plan (if you have one), we recommend that you use your “meals per week” first, then use your Dining Dollars for additional snacks, weekend meals (if you have run out for the week), etc. Wait with using your Purple Points for on-campus food purchases until your Dining Dollars are gone. Save your Purple Points for Bookstore purchases, laundry, vending, and other on-campus and off-campus uses.
  3. Remember to use your Dining Dollars for other on-campus food purchases, instead of cash, checks or credit/debit cards.
  1. Using your Dining Dollars will SAVE 15% on your food purchases at Esker Hall, Prairie Street Café and Drumlin Market.
  1. Using your Dining Dollars will SAVE 10% in the UC, CA, Hyland Hall and Library restaurants.
  2. AND you save the 5.5% sales tax when you use Dining Dollars or Purple Points on-campus
  3. AND you’ll get through the checkout MUCH faster.
  4. Any Dining Dollars in your account at the end of the fall semester WILL roll over to the spring 2012 semester for you to use. The HawkCard Office will add your spring semester dining dollar deposit to your ending fall semester balance.
