Naming Conventions
Naming Conventions
General Guidelines
- Time Sensitive files are labeled starting with the date of the event.
- Non Time Sensitive events are labeled with the semester at the end.
- Label the file type to help us to stay organized.
- Don’t use spaces when naming files.
- Use underscores when writing the dates instead of periods.
- Make sure to capitalize the first letter of every word.
Time Sensitive Naming
When files are approved and finished, they must be saved in two places. First, all final files (PDFs, JPEGs, etc.) should be placed in the current semester folder. Second, the finals files and packaged source files get placed in the complete folder once the project is finished. They get placed in the current semester and correct department.

Non-Time Sensitive
Non-time sensitive projects are a little different since it is a project that doesn’t have an end date. These types of projects last all semester or all year. We will label the file type with what semester they were updated to help keep us organized. Depending on the project, it will either go into the Complete & Semester folders like everything else, or it will go into the UC folder. If you don’t know, just ask.
