Hey everyone! I missed you Monday. I could not do my radio show because of things out of my control. I had a really good show planned, but I will play it next week…so don’t miss it!
There are several music news stories that I didn’t have a chance to mention or remind you of Monday. First, Colin Meloy (front man of The Decemberists) is going on a solo tour this spring. He will be making appearances in Milwaukee and Madison late April. This should be a good show; however, I don’t think he will be playing Decemberists songs. Another good concert coming up is March 30, Jens Lekman. Jens is from Sweden and is coming to Madison. Now, I have been following Jens for a few years now and I have never heard of him making U.S. appearances! He will be performing at UW-Madison’s music hall. His music can not be found in your local chain record store, so you may want to check an online distributor for that. His new cd “Night Falls Over Koredala” can be found on Amazon.com (a link is available under the links).
Lately, I’ve noticed that everyone is still talking about Radiohead’s “In Rainbows”. I never got into Radiohead that much, but it amazes me that everyone is still talking about it months later. It is a two year in the making and the seventh album from Radiohead. It was originally only released as a digital download in which fans paid whatever they saw fit (that’s right you could have got it for free!). It is available at record stores now though. “In Rainbows” contains electric instruments, pianos, strings, celestes, and other instruments. Many of the tracks had been played previously on their 2006 tour. I picked up a copy when it first came out and listened to bits and pieces of it. What I heard was not that amazing, it was just average. But then again I’m not really a Radiohead fan. Maybe I should give it another try?
As always I’m interested in what you are listening to. Leave me a comment and let me know. Who knows it could end up being played on the show!
