Grocery Shopping

When it comes to grocery shopping, I totally understand how people can spend $100+ for a week or two’s worth of food. You think you’re going make these crazy meals or eat all these snacks, when in reality you probably won’t. By time you go grocery shopping again, you end up throwing away half your things because they went bad.

One thing I try to do is to plan meals ahead of time. Honestly, I have about 4 go-to meals (I’ll share them in a later blog). Some people think that can get old after a while, but if you mix them up enough with adding new things, they don’t get old. I have been trying to experience with spices and seasonings to add new flavors, but I could definitely learn more. That’s the thing if you like more bland things that’s fine (I kind of do), but seasonings are a game-changer. Once you learn how to use them, your dishes will be 10 times better.

For when to actually go grocery shopping, it’s helpful to set a normal time to go. It could be after work every Tuesday or you just go at some point every Tuesday. I try to go either every Sunday or Monday. For me, it’s a new start to the week, so might as well start the week with some new and fresh groceries! Usually, Sundays and after work hours (4 p.m. – 6 p.m.) are the busiest, so going during the day or later at night could work better for some people.

Again, I would recommend making a list before going to the store. It makes the trip go faster and you can keep to the list. No list could mean buying what you don’t need or forgetting things you really need. I make my list on my phone so I can easily add to it when I need something.
