Week 9 Summary- Packers vs. Chargers

Let’s just say the Packers struggled week 9 against the Chargers where they were expected to win easily. The Packers were 3.5 point favorites but it turned out to not be correct whatsoever and the final score ended up being 26-11 Chargers. The Packers offense really struggled to move the ball in this game and the defense had one of their worst performances of the year, overall, a forgettable game for the Packers. The Chargers started off holding the ball for the first 8 minutes of the first quarter and ended up with a field goal making the score 3-0 Chargers. The following Packers drive is where the offense began their tough day with a three and out ending with a sack on quarterback Aaron Rodgers by Chargers defensive end Joey Bosa. Once again the Chargers drove down the field but settled for a field goal once again making the score 6-0 Chargers. The Packers once again didn’t move the ball at all and the drive ended in another sack for the Chargers defense which resulted in the Packers punting the ball back to the Chargers with the lead 6-0. The Chargers once again drove down the field and it ended in another field goal making the score 9-0 Chargers heading into halftime with the Packers receiving the second half kick off. The Chargers were really struggling to score in the red-zone which was giving the Packers the chance to stay in the game.

The Packers failed to score again after receiving the second half kick off and once again punted the ball to the Chargers. The Chargers drove down the field once again but they failed to score a touchdown again and kicked a field goal making the score 12-0 Chargers. The Packers once again didn’t move the ball and opted to punt, which was blocked by the Chargers return team giving them very good field position. In which they capitalized on quickly on a touchdown run from running back Melvin Gordon. making the score 19-0 Chargers. The Packers then finally moved the ball at least a little bit, but the drive ended in a 54-yard field goal from kicker Mason Crosby making the score 19-3 Chargers. The Chargers crushed the hopes of a comeback when they drove down the field and scored on another touchdown run for Melvin Gordon, giving him 2 on the day and making the score 26-3 Chargers. The Packers finally scored a touchdown with 6 minutes left in the game making the score 26-11 Chargers, but it was a little too late in the game for the Packers to have a chance to come back. Overall, a very disappointing game for the Packers dropping their record to 7-2 and improving the Chargers record to 4-5. Hopefully the Packers have a better game next week when the take on the Carolina Panthers. See you Saturday for pregame analysis!
