Midwest SWIP meeting at UW Madison, October 22nd-24th 2010

Location of Meeting Sessions

All meeting sessions will be held in room 7191 Helen C. White Hall on the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus. Helen C. White Hall (College Library) is located at 600 N. Park Street across from the Memorial Union, as shown on the campus map: http://map.wisc.edu/

Reception:

There will be a reception for all conference attendees on Saturday night, October 23rd. Time and location TBA.

Lodging

DOUBLETREE HOTEL MADISON (608-251-5511)
The rate is $139 per night with the group rate available with the “SWP” code (exclusive of hotel tax of 13.5%). The hotel operates a free shuttle service to and from the Madison airport. (Call ahead to arrange for shuttle transportation.) The hotel also offers free parking.

THE CAMPUS INN (800-589-6285) The room rate for a standard room is $184/night (exclusive of hotel tax of 13.5%). Free breakfast and afternoon hors d’oeuvres are included, as is free parking and free taxi service to and from the Madison airport (call ahead to arrange for cab service).

Travel Grants, Community Housing:  Historically MSWIP has sought to make attendance affordable for all participants.  This includes no conference attendance fee and free snacks throughout the conference.  Please contact Mavis Biss to request local housing and we will solicit graduate student hosts.  Travel grants ($70) are available on a first come, first serve basis with priority given to students, the unemployed, and the underemployed.  You do not need to be a SWIP member to participate in the conference, request local housing, or to request a travel grant.

Travel to Madison:

Madison is serviced by the Dane County/Madison Airport (airport code: MSN). Travel time from the airport to the hotels and Hellen C. White Hall is 10-15 minutes; cab fare will be about $15.
There is frequent bus service from Milwaukee (appx. an hour and a half) via Badger Bus Lines (608-255-6771), and from Chicago (appx. three hours), via Van Galder Bus Lines (800-747-0994). Both buses stop at the Memorial Union (a half-
block from the Pyle Center).
