Be Creative!

Alright…. last post. The thing I want you to get from this blog is be creative! College can be so stressful and scary and so much happens in such little time. But, take advantage of the times you have to be creative! An empty space can be the perfect pallet to get cool thoughts and ideas out so they’re not wasted potential. Remember that everyone has different taste and compromise within your house is necessary. And of course, last but not least, in your quest to be creative and have cool interior design… have fun with it! And when it’s not fun, take a break, then begin again when you’re inspired and ready. Thanks!...

Meeting Room

Is your room the meeting room for your roommates or your friends? That can be both a blessings and a curse. It’s really cool that you have friends that want to spend time with you and that people think you have a cool space, but it can also be hard to make your space fit that. There are some issues with having your space being the meeting room. They include… Having Enough Room That can be hard. There sometimes isn’t enough room for everyone to sit or stand comfortably in one space, especially if that space is in a college house or apartment. So, it’s important to at least try to fix or remedy the problem. Even if it’s just for the time of everyone being present in the room. Have chairs or a couch in the room. That helps a lot because it makes everyone comfortable and it is very inviting. Make sure it fits in your designs though, because no one wants a random eyesore couch and no one wants to sit on one, so you’ll just make people more uncomfortable. Clean The room has to be clean. The worst is dodging clothing on the floor. It’s awkward for both the room owner and the room visitor. No one wants their clothing stepped on, and no one wants to walk on eggshells so they don’t seem disrespectful for stepping on your things. Plus, it helps with room! If the room is clean, it makes it seem bigger! Conversation Starters Art is a great conversation starter! Have cool things on the wall and point them out to people...

All White?

Rooms that are all white seem difficult right? Well, they are. Are they worth the work? No. Not in my opinion. They’re so hard to keep up with because they get so dirty so easily! So, it’s not worth it. There’s so many other designs and other ideas you could really take and run with. That’s important to remember when you’re thinking of doing white anything. For a while, I had a white bedspread, and it was good at first, and I really liked it. Then, life started getting really busy and I did a lot of running back and forth, and SO many stains started happening. Which was bad. It took away from any cool look I was going for. It broke up the solid white and eyes went right to the stains. And no one likes stains on their white bedspread. Of course, maybe someone more clean and careful than me could really pull it off and it would look really cool! But, always keep in mind your lifestyle. I’m a college student and a young woman. I’m really, really busy and always on the go. I have tons of work and papers and all nighters. A lot of the time, this means doing homework in bed and eating to stay away (not good on so many levels), so it can be hard. Really think about if you can pull it off, and if you can… go for...

Hide Them

So… someone gets you something that you don’t necessarily like. At all. But it was so nice of them to get your a gift, right? Right. That’s the point. It’s always nice when someone gives you a gift. It always is the thought that counts, even if the gift isn’t something you would ever pick for yourself. With all of that in mind… How do you utilize the gift in your space? You don’t necessarily want to, but it was a gift and that’s so nice and you can’t just get rid of it. I’ve faced this problem a few times. And, I still have those gifts in my space. I just sort of hide them. And it works! They’re a small pop of color, or a stand for something. If you change the way the item is viewed, it can almost make it look different than it actually is, so it isn’t as bad anymore! You just have to be creative and put thought into it. Try different things to figure out the best...

Should You Hang Pictures of Yourself?

Should you post pictures of yourself around your house? Have you seen some celebrities do it when you watch a reality show (Keeping Up With The Kardashians) or just anything? Well… you should NOT do that. I get it, you want to feel like a celebrity because who wouldn’t? BUT you don’t need to take it that far. Celebrities have tons of photos taken of them because that’s their job. It is more than likely not the job of a college student like you. Therefore, don’t do it. It’s better to put up super cool art, or some pictures that are cool that you took yourself, just not OF yourself. Or pictures of yourself WITH your friends is always cool. But not just of yourself. It’s a new trend, but here’s to it not taking off....
