Scholarship of Teaching and Learning with Technology

Dear LTDC members,

Please join us for our next Scholarship of Teaching and Learning with
Technology Event, February 16, 2006 from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. This WisLine Web
panel will feature Nancy Chick (UW-Barron County), Beth Devine
(UW-Milwaukee), and Ronna Popkin (UW-Madison) who will discuss how they
conducted Lesson Studies in their respective disciplines of English,
Nursing, and Women’s Studies. For more information and to register, please
go to: http://www.uwex.edu/twt/

If you attended Bill Cerbin’s WisLine Web discussion in November, you are
familiar with Lesson Study and how it relates to the Scholarship of Teaching
and Learning. This panel provides examples of how three faculty members
conducted/are conducting Lesson Studies and using technology (D2L) to assist
them in these studies.

Since this program is offered through a UW System Office of Professional and
Instructional Development grant, there will be no cost for participation.
However, the number of available lines is limited so be sure to register
quickly.

To participate in a WisLine Web program, you need Internet access and a
separate telephone line.

The WisLine Web event will be followed by a two-week discussion on the
Scholarship of Teaching and Learning with Technology D2L site.

If you have questions, contact Kay Taube at (608) 262-7277 or
taubeks@conted.uwex.edu

Please share this message with your colleagues who may be interested in
participating in this event.

**From Molly Immendorf**

Dear Members of the Virtual Community of Scholars,

Since you are a current member of UW-Extension’s learning community, I want
to make sure that you know about an upcoming event that I’m sure you’ll want
to participate in. Please join us on November 3, 2005 for a WisLine Web
Conference, featuring Bill Cerbin talking about How to Conduct Lesson Study.
The program begins at 10:00 a.m. and concludes at 11:00 a.m.

I’m attaching a 1-pg announcement of the event that includes more details.

UWEX’s SoTL project focuses on the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning with
Technology. Because the project is funded by an OPID grant, there
is no cost to participate in either the WisLine Web conference or the online
discussion. To register for the conference, please go to our project web
page at www.uwex.edu/twt .

Looking forward to seeing you online!

-Molly

Professional Development Funds

As in previous years, UWSA has earmarked funds for professional development budget for the LTDCs. My understanding is the money was transferred directly to the campuses to be used at your discretion, and that seems like a working method to me. I will be working on getting that arranged ASAP. Please let me know if you have questions/comments.
