Diversity

Diversity is the state or act of being different such as culture and race. Having diversity in the world is very important.  It mixes cultures together to become one, and also lets cultures share ideas between each other.  Diversity is everywhere in the world.  It is in businesses with international business within a company. Its important to know about different cultures beliefs and stuff so that you do not do something that could offend them when doing business.  Diversity is also in schools.  My school was very diversified.  We had kids from all different cultures.  At my school we also had many clubs and organizations recognizing different culture groups such as Black Student Union. I however  was not in any of the diversified clubs yet have many friends of different colors and cultures. One of my good friends was actually from Uganda and taught me about her cultures customs and traditions.  They are very different from the united states customs are.   Everywhere you go there will be diversity, no matter what.  It helps people open their eyes to new things and use it towards their advantage.  Having diversity not only  brings people together but it helps people learn about different races and cultures.

Favorite brand!

One of my favorite brands is True Religion jeans.  Jeans are my favorite, i own over 15 pairs.  They go with everything, and can be worn any time of the year.  True Religion are my favorite brand because they are the most comfortable.  Jeans are the one thing that i spend the most money on.  True Religion jeans can run from $150-$500.  Although they may cost a lot, they seriously last forever.  My first pair that i got have lasted me two years, and still look brand new.  True Religion also makes shorts, T-shirts, sweaters, sweatshirts, jackets, perfume, bags, belts, and shoes.  There are 25 stores located in the U.S. and the closest one to Whitewater is located in the Mall of America.  You can also find these jeans at department stores such as Macy’s, Bloomingdales, and Sak’s 5th Avenue. You may also find True Religion in China, Australia, United Kingdom, Canada, Germany, Japan, Greece, Sweden, and Spain. Many celebrities such as Jon Gosselin, Britney Spears, and Megan Fox have been seen wearing True Religion jeans, which appeals to young teenagers to have what all of the celebrities have.  For me that’s not the case at all I am just obsessed with jeans!

College Transition 2

Not a whole lot has changed since my last college transition post.  I’ve met a lot of new people and have really gotten to be good friends with my roommate.  I’ve gotten used to my class schedule, although i still have a horrible time waking up and getting to class early every monday, wednesday, and friday. I’ve only had like three exams so far and done really decent on them.  I wasn’t really used to studying this much in highschool, but i’m definitely getting the hang of it.  Its a good thing my roommate is very quiet and studious because i feel like i would struggle big time if she was always going out, or loud. I’m glad i haven’t had to go to the library to study either because it’s starting to get cold out, and i’m a baby when it comes to cold weather and walking!  My bed has gotten more comfortable, but i still HATE using the bathrooms here.  I’ve gone home a few weekends and also have gone to madison a few to visit some friends.  I definitely need to stay in Whitewater more on the weekends and enjoy the full “college experience” in Whitewater.  I’m finding myself having to definitely become more of a time manager because i find myself doing things at the last minute or in a time crunch for time.  I still really do not like the food here, but only because i am used to my moms cooking.  I definitely don’t think i’ll be gaining the freshman 15 which is a good thing!  Overall i am adapting very well and enjoying my time here very much so!

Drugs and Alcohol.

Personally, I am not against drinking, even if you are underage.  I have been surrounded by drinking my whole life.  Don’t get me wrong, my family members and friends are not alcoholics, but they do enjoy a nice drink at dinner, up at our cabin, or at family events.  I believe drinking does make things more fun and lively.  I can have a good time with my friends and family without getting out of control drunk.  I would definitely not consider myself a binge drinker, but I do like to drink and have a fun time.  I live in a small town where there is not much to do, so we often would spend our time drinking.  Of course everyone has had their crazy drinking experience where they end up puking their brains out, but you learn your limit that way.  Almost all of my friends drink which is just another reason why I’m not against it.  Most of my friends also smoke weed, and a few of them are into “harder drugs” if that’s what you want to call it.  I am not against weed, I used to smoke all the time my first 3 years of high school.  My friends and I are really into the jam bands and reggae and we often go to concerts where we smoke.  It makes the concert more enjoyable, in my eyes. I think I would feel different about drugs if I would ever get caught because it would then become real for me.  As for other drugs, I’m not totally against them; I’m just not interested in them.  My best friend has actually gone to rehab because of an addiction to painkillers, and also heroine.  Seeing what it has done to him affects me, but I believe you’re an adult and can make your own choices, whether it be good or bad.  At the end of the day you learn from your mistakes and they make you who you are.

My college transition!

For most of high-school i couldn’t wait until i got to college.  The day it actually came was surreal. I spent about a week packing all of my stuff, anticipating the move in day.  I can specifically remember the car ride down to Whitewater from Milwaukee, the whole family and all.  I am the last one in my family to go to college and one of the things i was most worried about was my mom being all alone in the house.  (needless to say, i am the loud one of the family and its going to be a big transition for my mom to be in a quiet house)  For the most part college is not that big of a change for me.  The biggest things i’ve had to get used to is using a public bathroom, the not-so-tasty food, and the larger amount of homework each night.  In high-school I was not that motivated and did the bare minimum.  That for sure has changed plenty because how you do in college decides the rest of your life.  If you do well you’ll get a nice job, if you do poorly, you’ll only get a mediocre job. The food does definitely not taste like my parents home cooked meals which we ate together at-least six times a week.  The most positive transition from my college experience so far is having the feeling of being independent and not having my parents breathing down my back about every little thing. I have the freedom to stay out as long as i want, to eat what i want, to do what i want when i want, and best of all, having that messy room that my dad always nagged me about. Overall, I’m so excited about starting the next chapter in my life, aka college, and seeing where it takes me.
