Over the Thanksgiving weekend Florence Henderson, the mom from The Brady Bunch passed away in Los Angles at the age of 82. According to the article in TV News Check she passed away from heart failure. The Brady Bunch Initially ended in 1974 but was so popular it was brought back in different forms. Henderson is now another celebrity who won American hearts through television to pass away this year. The list includes Gene Wilder, Arnold Palmer, Doris Roberts, and Dan Haggerty among others.

They all had one thing in common. While they were all not actors they rose to popularity in a time where people enjoyed television together. People liked watching people who were relatable. They wanted people who seemed that they were just like them. Family values were important. These people all were relatable to many and had amazing success as television was starting to take off in popularity.

As we usher in a new year in about a month and continue in the age of new television it is almost impossible to see people to replace these icons. Television shows do not seem to last as long as people have short attentions and are always looking for the next best thing. Similarly stars are always surrounded in scandals and controversy. They rise and fall as fast as the sun during the day. It is hard to say if in thirty years people will look back at this era of television and remember a show that resonated with them as much as The Brady Bunch, I Love Lucy and many others did. Will there ever be a show as popular as those ever again as television shifts online?
