When going through some of the stories in feedly, I ran across an article that was pretty interesting. We all have heard about the Louisville sex scandal.

If you haven’t a graduate assistant hired an escorting business to lure recruits in to their school, they would pay the escorts to have sex with the players to get them to come to the school.

Although the graduate assistant was the one behind all of this, you have to question rather the coach Rick Pitino had any knowledge of what was going. Of course he denied knowing anything about it, but what makes this story even more interesting is that Pitino has decided not to attend the ACC media day.

He is trying to avoid answering questions about the sex scandal in Louisville, but my question is Should Rick Pitino avoid the media? You’re going to get questions like this a lot now, because you are the coach of the team. Unless he did have any knowledge of what happen, it’s not for any of us to say; but I think Pitino should go to media for his team and avoid those questions.

Anytime you get in front of the media, the question is going to come up anyway. I also feel like if he did know anything, then he has messed up his legacy by lying to the media. He shouldn’t avoid media day.

A buck is A Victim

http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/13928294/john-henson-milwaukee-bucks-alleges-was-victim-racial-profiling

I found this story on feedly, and it really hit home with me. John Henson of the Milwaukee Bucks allegedly was a victim of racial profiling in Wisconsin, which is no surprise to me. A jewelry store in Whitefish Bay wouldn’t allow the Bucks player to come inside because they thought that he was coming in to rob them.

Now, I understand that this store has been robbed before, but it wasn’t robbed by a black person . Henson believed that the jewelry store locked the doors because there were four black men coming into the store, and they may have thought they were about to get robbed.

Rather you think that the jewelry store was justified or not for locking their doors ,and calling the cops, this gives them a bad look. Even after the cops arrived and explained to the employees that this is a Milwaukee Bucks player and he presented no threat to them; the employees still wanted the cop to stay.

Henson said in a statement that he “wouldn’t wish this on anyone. This store needs to be called out.” I believe they do need to be called out  along with some of the stores in downtown Milwaukee, because I have been a victim of the same thing.

I love downtown Milwaukee , I go down there to do a little shopping every now and then. One day I had my little niece with me, just by chance I was wearing all black that day. A store called the police on me, what really got me upset was my intentions wasn’t to steal anything from this store, and they went by what I was wearing. Another thing is I had my two year old niece with me; I just  feel like a lot of people ,not just black people shouldn’t have to go through things like this, but I guess this is how society is now.

Story Ideas For The Newsrooms

Newsroom

http://www.poynter.org/news/mediawire/377674/how-3-new-jersey-newsrooms-are-turning-to-their-readers-for-story-ideas/

This is a very interesting story that I found on feedly, this article is about three different newsrooms in New Jersey. I just find it interesting that the newsroom would cares about the opinion of the readers, and they’re looking for story ideas from the readers.

Honestly, I don’t know how this could work against these three newsrooms, because if you are getting ideas from the readers; than all of your stories should appeal to the audience. On the other hand I feel like you shouldn’t depend on the readers for every story, which is the only thing that can work against.

I think it is a good idea to get story ideas from the reader; this is a world where websites want more fan participation. These three Newsrooms leaving their story ideas up to the readers isn’t bad at all too me it’s just another case of fan participation to me.

So my question is, should more newsrooms do what these three newsrooms are doing? I think they should, because I feel it would draw more viewers. I’m pretty sure that the newsrooms know a good story idea and a bad story idea, I don’t think that this would hurt the newsrooms in anyway.

The Media VS Athletes

While going through feedly I found an article/video about the argument between Stephen A Smith and Kevin Durant. I’m pretty sure you’ve heard the story about Kevin Durant calling Stephen A Smith a liar after Mr. Smith reported that the Los Angeles Lakers would be the number one destination if he were to leave the team he is currently with, but what made headlines was Stephen A Smith response to Kevin Durant.

A lot of websites are saying that he threaten Durant when he said “You don’t want to make an Enemy out of me.” I feel like Stephen A Smith did the right thing standing up for himself, but the delivery came across as a bit arrogant. Now don’t get me wrong, Stephen A Smith has been working in the media for a long time; I would agree with Stephen A Smith when it comes to the relationship with Kevin Durant and the media.

Kevin Durant told the media that “you don’t know S***.” This is something that really upsets me about the world today, there’s a sense of sensitive. Anytime the media reports something based off of a source doesn’t mean that it’s always true, but just because a player says it doesn’t always make it true either. What I am trying to say is they were both wrong, Mr. Smith was wrong for his rant on First Take, and Kevin Durant was wrong for the way he treats the media.

I don’t think athletes really understand how valuable the media can be; yes it is true that the media can be a pain at times, but they are there to report the News. The media isn’t there to ruin lives, and I feel that these athletes need to understand that.

Website Design

October 03rd, 2015 | Category: About Me

Web

Based off of the information that I have read in the articles and some of the websites that I have seen, my blog could look a little better than what it looks like now. I love the theme of my website such as the designs of the pages; I feel I need to add more content in order to make my blog look better.

I wanted to do something to make my blog a lot more interesting, so I added more about me. I added videos of some of my favorite things and what I’m a fan of, I feel like showing more personality on my blog would draw in more audience.

The next thing that I changed in my blog is putting images on the articles that didn’t have images. I feel like having images on your website could make people want to view your blog, but also I know I have to be careful with putting too many images on one pages. NewsU teaches us that putting too many images on one page can make the reader dislike your blog, so you have to be careful about how many images you put on your blog.

I also tried to add music to my, but the NewsU course stopped me from doing. I don’t want to do anything to stop my audience from viewing my blog; I think the people would find it annoying that its music always playing in the back while they are trying to view my page.

The last thing that I changed was the title of my blog; I wanted the title to fit the theme of my blog. These are just minor changes that I feel can help my page; NewsU taught me that I need to have a plan when designing a website. I feel like this is true, which is why I’m going to work to make my blog a lot better throughout the semester.
