Media Lab Adds New Sound Booth for Students

Want to move your class projects up to a whole new level? Add your own audio files to assignments to add a new dimension to your presentation.  Stop in to see how it’s done by checking out the sound booth in the Media Lab located in Andersen L1008.

Soundbooth

Installed during the summer of 2009, this new facility is a place for students to create high-quality audio recordings.  The sound booth can fit up to three people at a time and allows users to easily save audio as a digital file that can be edited on one of the Media Lab’s many computers.

“It’s ideal for voice-over narration, screencasts, interviews, class assignments, or any creative project,” said Aaron Axelsen, iCIT Instructional Technologist.

“There is a mixer and mp3 recorder provided – but there is also a place for students to use a laptop or other student-owned equipment with the mixer,” Axelsen said.

For students who are unsure how to use the new sound booth, a Media Lab attendant or Learning Technology Center staffer can help.

The Media Lab is a great resource to students, faculty and staff and has much more than audio to offer its patrons.  Stop in to work on one of the labs many Mac or PC computers or to utilize poster printing, lamination, scanners, color printing, A/V equipment checkout, or innovative software.  There is always a Media Lab attendant on duty to answer any questions and offer assistance.

If you would like to reserve the sound booth or have any questions about Media Lab services, contact the lab at 262.472.1994 or medialab@uww.edu.
