First try

The Journey Begins!

Welcome to my little corner of the internet!

Join me as I learn about the fun little hobby of indoor gardening! My name is Stewart and I will be using this blog as a space to document my exploration of different growing techniques and (hopefully) growing some different kinds of indoor plants and vegetables. I will try and take note of any questions that came into my head while doing my research, and conveying the lessons I learn via weekly reports on my successes and failures (hopefully more of the former). If you’re reading this and have any friendly advise, questions, or comments, please share!

Now, I’ll be honest, I’ve never been much inclined towards indoor gardening as an interest, but I’ve noticed an increase in people I know who have taken it on as a hobby and seem to really enjoy it.  Part of me is curious to see how the hobby grows on me over the course of the next couple of weeks.  Who knows, maybe by the end of this I’ll be a crazy plant dad or something! :p

so…Where to start?!

My hobbyist friend suggested I start with Lettuce using what is referred to as a “Kratky” hydroponic system. Apparently the benefit of this method is that it takes a very “set it and forget it” approach to growing. In theory, it should be low maintenance and hard to screw up. Of course, we’ll soon be putting that theory to the test.

My friend directed me to the video below which will serve as a model for what I’ll be trying to do in the first few weeks of gardening.

Cool idea for your blog! I think that recently with the pandemic people have started to see the importance of home gardening, I don’t know much about it but I look forward to learning more!

I really like this idea for your blog because I don’t think a lot of people (me included) know a lot about growing plants and herbs in your home. It is nice how you included a video of you talking about it because it makes it more personal.I think it is super creative for you to reuse plastic containers like baby formula containers as well. I am excited to learn more about this as the weeks go on!

      Thanks for the comment. 🙂

The video isn’t mine, but it is one I am using as a basis for my initial dive into hydroponics.
