Another telling look at Inequality in America

Don’t let others “pull the wool over your eyes” and tell you how much better things are getting for everyone here in the US. Life is getting better for some, while also deteriorating for a growing number. Check out this new VIDEO on the growing inequality within the US. It’s pretty interesting. Thoughts…

In today’s society, the middle class is diminishing. There is either the working poor or the wealthy. I personally think that hard work should be rewarded so the people that are wealthy, deserve their place in society..that is if they aren’t the ones who just get money for doing nothing aka inheritance. The working poor is at a disadvantage in the world because they are pretty much at a spot where they can’t move up. The economic situation in the world right now is affecting everyone is some way, regardless of their social class.

That video was sad to watch. I guess I was naive to the reality of the economic downfall we (the U.S.) is facing. The middle class is becoming extinct in certain areas but more than others. The video shined light on how the working class wasn’t making enough to stay above water, to provide for themselves the basic essentials were hard to obtain. The numbers of homelessness has increased which makes the division between wealthy and poor larger. This just shows that you have to really know someone and have great connections with those in wealthy positions to make it in this world. Your skills go overlooked and you aren’t paid by your performance anymore.

This video does go to show that everyone is affected by money loss and the struggling economy. I think a lot of society does not want to see that there are millions of people who are homeless because of job loss, but regardless this problem is real. The middle class is getting smaller and smaller and because of job loss and the rise in living expenses, people are simply unable to stay above poverty. Something needs to be done about the those people living on the streets and in parks, but unfortunately, unless a very wealthy person makes a very big deal about it, it probably won’t get the attention that it needs. Businesses are looking to make the most money possible while spending the least money possible and because of this, paychecks are decreasing. Literally everyone is affected in one way or another.

In today’s society, the middle class is shrinking because we are losing more jobs than ever. People are losing their jobs just before they retire, which causes them to have a more difficult trying to find another job because of their age. There are more homeless people and these people can not stay above the poverty line, which is unfortunate. This issue will not get the attention it needs unless someone who has money brings attention to it. There is just too much inequality for our modern society and this is seriously unfortunate.

While this wasn’t news to me, it’s always upsetting learning how much worse it gets everyday. Its frustrating to read and watch things get worse, simply wondering what the government is doing to make things better. There is a growing number of people that need assistance because the government and society isn’t doing enough to help out. Its issues like this that show were our system is broken. The rich get richer, while the poor get poorer and the rich are unwilling to help out.

I think the point that “we are losing a lot of jobs” can be misleading. I’m fairly certain that the overall job outlook has increased for Americans. Unfortunately, most of these jobs aren’t going to be your prototypical manufacturing jobs that are available to anyone. In my opinion, the gap between the rich and the poor is being amplified by the job “shift” in America (not loss). Why is it that education has been such a push in recent decades? Is it because you can’t find a decent job without a college education? I think so… Obviously, the homeless can’t afford to go to college, so how is it that they will be able to get out of their current situation? Honestly, I don’t think its possible without a substantial change in attitudes among the wealthy (which also won’t likely happen). Unfortunately, I don’t think a significant change will occur in the near future. That being said, i’m going to stay in college.
