Nikki Dudei, who now has two grad school acceptances (plus TA $$$ offers) to continue her geological/paleontological studies from UW Milwaukee, and Ohio University in Athens. Ohio is flying her out to visit in early March. The department at Ohio is the leading program in the US incorporating paleontology and GIS. I’ve read the emails she’s received from them, and they are very excited to receive a person with a geology background with GIS skills.

And congratulations as well to Christopher Klug, finishing up his MS in Geology at Bowling Green. Chris was just offered a 5-year, “full-ride” in Geology/Paleontology at Texas A&M University. We couldn’t be more proud.

Both of these students continue our tradition of Geology track majors that have successfully marketed their GIS skills to get into Geology programs that otherwise would overlook them. We will never be strong in geochemistry or geophysics here, but more and more geology schools are recognizing that we “deliver the goods” as far as GIS is concerned.
