This link will take you to my project on Blogger. I chose to do a blog because this piece focuses on history that is effecting the world 70+ years later. Also, this assignment I did goes in more of a linear fashion, so having a blog that you can just scroll down on makes more sense then anything else. http://freedominshackles.blogspot.com/2016/04/freedom-in-shackles_25.html
Here is my gun rights project for spring 2016 English 296! I decided to do a booklet because it would be easy to transport and can have lots of information. I was able to use lots of information as well as visuals to introduce people to firearms and give lots of statistics and information about firearms and firearm control.
I did my project as a timeline to show how much technology has advanced in the last decade alone. My research paper was on the advancement of technology and how it is becoming so advanced it is getting to the point of where there may not be anymore simple cheap jobs available because a robot could possibly steal that job. If you would like to look at the advancement of technology through a cool 3D timeline just click the link! http://www.tiki-toki.com/timeline/entry/639548/Advancement-of-Technology/
For my project, I decided to do a brochure. This brochure highlights my main argument points in my key finding.
I felt that a brochure was the best way to publically discourse the information that I found. I want the reader to understand what I am saying and see the justified reason why there is a gender pay gap between physicians. Because the audience member may already have an opinion on the topic, I want the audience member to be open-minded to the idea of another justifiable reason for the gender pay gap between physicians. The gender pay gap is big political issue that needs to see change, yet the audience needs to know the facts before sharing their opinion on the issue.
I demonstrated my project as a brochure, because it is the most beneficial way to get my message across for smokers to end their addiction. In the brochure, I included why smokers should quit, benefits of quitting, what cigarretes do to a smoker’s lungs, and ways to get rid of smoking habits. All of these topics are important and concerns many smokers may have. Not only did I want to persuade individuals to quit, but also motivate them to quit and not have a smoking relapse. I used pictures I found effective and powerful like the one to the right when you open up the brochure. This picture has the caption above it “Who is the Smoker?” and has a picture below of a smoker’s lungs and a non smoker’s lungs. The difference is unbelievable. I’m not trying to scare people, but I thought this picture would open up smokers eyes to the health problems they are causing for their bodies.
The design of my brochure is a black, red, and white theme. I used red for any wording I wanted to stand out in the brochure. Red means stop in many ways whether it is a stop sign, or a red traffic light. This made me want to use this color to get smokers to think of those words and headings to promote “stop” including in my brochure of smoking. Important words and headings are underlined and bolded to pop out to the smokers.
Overall, I enjoyed and had a fun time creating this brochure. I put a lot of time and thought into where my headings, pictures, and information would go to be most effective to the smoker. I hope if a smoker would pick a my brochure in a health clinic, they would take something out of it and try to change their ways. Hopefully the brochure would motivate them to live a smoke free life away from cigarettes!
Thanks for taking time out of your day to view my brochure!
The topic of photoshop has recently become personal to me. My boyfriend’s younger sister (around 13 years old) has been really affected by photoshop. It’s caused her to try some crazy diets that aren’t healthy. We’ve talked to her about it and she says that she wants to look like the celebrities that she looks up to. The ones on the cover of magazines. These aren’t pictures that we should compare ourselves to, because they’re unrealistic. No one looks like these pictures, not even the celebrities themselves. I hope after watching this video people will be aware how harmful photoshop can be and how influential the media’s audience is.
I hope you enjoy my magazine article it is based off a larger work. I chose to do an article because it is a good way to get this information out and the most effective way to present it for this topic. This article gives brief information on how to improve goal setting by the steps taken to set up a successful goal. Enjoy! Click here for the PDF version Goal Setting Project
So with this project I wanted to create some quick and interesting facts about the topic. I wanted to add in stories of recent athletes and there struggle to get attract the eye of the reader. I just wanted to highlight how much money is going through the NCAA because of the student athletes. I hope it gets the job done, enjoy!
I chose to create a brochure because I felt it would be the best way to get awareness about hoarding out there. My ideal place to put this brochure would be in doctors and counseling offices waiting rooms across the country. Often times people spend a great amount of time sitting and waiting for their appointments. Sometimes people get bored and start looking around. I believe this brochure would catch a lot of peoples attention just by the pictures. They might see the pictures and then relate to them because they know someone with a hoarding problem or even they might have a hoarding problem. They are then able to take the brochure and pass it on or even take the beginning steps to fixing the problem.
Another reason why I would want my brochure in a doctor/ counselling office waiting room is because most of the time hoarders suffer from other medical problems as well.
One last side note, the picture on the front of my brochure is an actual image of my neighbors garage, she could not put her car into her garage. I would have included actual pictures of the inside of her house but the images were not as clear as I would have liked.
Please let me know about what you think. Thanks for taking time out of your day to read my brochure!
Good day people! My name is Allie, and I am a sophomore at the University of Wisconsin Whitewater. My focus is on Social Work with a minor in Criminology. My plan is to become a jail Social Worker and help those who are transitioning from jail to society and vise versa.
Like other colleges, there are these things called general education classes that we all have to take and this semester, I am enrolled in a fancy hybrid English course. I’ve had to go through the blood, sweat, and tears of writing papers, and reading words; probably like the rest of you, but unlike most people I really enjoy English.
Our final essay for the semester was a research paper. It wasn’t exactly the cherry on top of the semester, but I picked a very interesting topic, “Technology and its effect of the IGen”. The reason I chose this topic is because I am sick and tired of seeing young kids walking around dressed like 20 year old, with cell phones, Ipods, Ipads, virtual reality goggles, and all of these other fancy thing I don’t know about. So I though I would shed some light on the issue at hand. In doing this research paper, we were told to make some sort of brochure, poster, video, blog etc. to learn how to publicly talk about topics of our research papers.
For my project, I am going to be doing a video. I think this is the most beneficial because the young generations have their eyes glued to their screens and there would be no doubt that they wouldn’t see this video.
Technology has become something that kids take for granted and use way to often. If you think about it, how often do you see kids playing outside anymore without some sort of newly developed technology? That’s what I thought. My project explains my personal opinion of the younger generation and where we have went wrong. Please let me know what you think!
