Brew Date Night

Located right near the outskirts of Whitewater is a small brewing and grill restaurant called Second Salem. Salem is one of the many restaurants that students head to after a long day of exams or a night out before heading downtown. Salem has also been known to have unique names to their own brews. Such as the Best of Bray Road Amber Ale, the Black Mass Stout, the Witchtower Pale Ale and many more! Each of their beers has a different name with a different illustrated picture. For this year, a new brew is coming to Second Salem and that brew is called Killer Hill Winter Ale. On Saturday, December 2nd, Second Salem will be hosting a ‘release party’ introducing the new beer. There will be live music featuring, The Brothers Quinn, starting at 9 p.m. and tapping’s of the winter ale. The photo of the newly introduced beer is of a werewolf on a sled riding in the snow holding what I think to be the winter ale, high up like he’s proud of the beer. This event is hosted right in Whitewater, which means you and your significant other can head downtown and enjoy the live band and new brew. It gives you guys something to do on a cold winter Saturday night instead of staying inside. Like what I have said before, get out and go on adventures with your boyfriend/girlfriend. It makes some great stories to laugh about later. Visit Second Salem’s website to learn more about the event and to view their menu on food and...

Hiking Your Way to Love

The season is changing, and that means that the leaves are changing colors and nature is looking better than ever. Seeing how colorful nature is in the fall is just as beautiful as love (cheesy alert) and what better way to see the leaves change than head out on a hike with your significant other. In Wisconsin, there are many places where you can go to hike and check out amazing views. To add to the adventure, packing snacks and packing a lunch would be the perfect date too. There are areas where you can set up a little picnic and relax after a long day of hiking! Don’t forget to also bring a backpack or some type of sling-back bag to put in waters, granola bars and a hiking map. « Nature Preserve » The Nature Preserve is located just right behind Whitewater that is a 2 mile walking trail. This trail is literally right in your backyard. You both can either drive there or walk there because it is that close to on, and off campus Whitewater. At the trail, you can discover views that you can’t get in other parts of Whitewater on the hills of the trail. You can oversee the rest of the landscape and the side of Whitewater campus that has the towers. « Kettle Moraine State Forest » This quaint forest is more beautiful and larger than the nature preserve, which will give you and your significant other more of a scenery than the nature preserve in Whitewater. The Kettle Moraine State Forest is in Eagle, WI that is only 30 minutes...

Friendsgiving

It is finally November and that means there are 8 more Fridays till Christmas! But who’s counting… So that also means we still must get through the second, best holiday of the year, which is Thanksgiving. If you love food, this is your holiday. For some college students, it may be their least favorite due to long travels to head home to see their family, or maybe they don’t have a choice to head home for the holidays and must stay in the empty town of Whitewater. This article is for the ones who are wanting to spend this holiday with their significant other, friends or can’t not head home for the holiday weekend. Heading to Walmart and making/buying a thanksgiving feast is the perfect way to spend the holidays since you are a poor college student with nowhere to go. When heading to Walmart: Instead of buying a turkey, buy the rotisserie chicken that is already made. It’s a great substitute to a large turkey you don’t have the time to cook. Buy multiple if you both are having a huge friendsgiving. Instead of making homemade stuffing, you can buy the microwavable kind instead of the oven kind – but we all know that oven cooked stuffing is the best and don’t forget the rolls! You can buy the McCormick Turkey “lump free” gravy for just $1.48. All you must do is just add one packet of the mix and a cup of water into a saucepan, stir, heat and serve! If you liked cranberries? Easy enough, Walmart has the canned cranberries and if there isn’t enough sauce...
