Spring semester registration is rolling along at UW-Whitewater. What do you do if you are participating in the Disney College Program?

As I posted last week, you can earn credit through UW-Whitewater for participating in the DCP. Remember, Disney is not a university, so you must register for courses through UW-Whitewater in order to earn credit while you are away. At UW-Whitewater, the easiest way to do this is by taking BEINDP 293. Read last week’s “What Do I Need to Do Now” post to learn more about this course.

When you meet with your academic advisor, particularly if you meet with him/her before accepting an offer to participate in the DCP, you will likely select “normal” classes to register for in the spring. You likely will not be able to enroll in these classes while you are away in Florida or California. However, these might be the classes you consider for next fall. So there is a future to-do you can cross of your list.

The best thing you can do right now if you are confused about classes for next semester is to speak with one of the DCP liaisons at UW-W. We are here to answer (almost) all of your DCP questions, so let us know what’s on your mind. Contact one of us directly or feel free to leave on this blog.

We have just wrapped up the Disney College Program presentations at UW-Whitewater for this semester. They were a great success! 139 people attended, a huge leap from previous semesters. UW-W and Disney are making a great team!

If you attended the November 4 presentation and you want to move forward in the process of participating, be sure to follow the next steps:

  • Visit www.disneycollegeprogram.com
  • Select the program you are interested in:
    • California – Disneyland Resort
    • Florida – Walt Disney World
  • Select “Apply Now,” complete the online application and role checklist, enter the presentation code you were given at the presentation, and complete the web-based interview.
    • Remember to take the web-based interview seriously. It will determine whether or not you will move forward in the application process.
  • Follow the instructions provided after your completion of the web-based interview.

For those of you who have received and/or accepted an offer from the Disney College Program, be sure to review the option to earn up to 12 credits for the experience. You will receive an email on this from me (Laura Jacobs) shortly after I recieve notice of your offer.

Remember, there are several of us on campus to assist you in understanding the Disney College Program. We’re here for you, so let us know how we can help. Also, feel free to leave your questions as comments on this blog. I will respond ASAP.

Our own Dr. Gruber, instructor for UW-Whitewater’s Disney course and huge proponent of the Disney College Program, has been named to the College Program’s Advisory Board!

The Advisory Board is comprised of representatives from various Disney College Program Educational Partner institutions, of which UW-W is one. Board members share their feedback and ideas as Disney enhances the College Program.

Dr. Gruber joins faculty and staff from universities across the country in helping to shape the future of the Disney College Program. Congratulations Dr. Gruber!

In an effort to enhance the communication between UW-Whitewater, UW-W participants in the Disney College Program, and participants’ interested family members, I have started the UW-Whitewater Disney College Program Bulletin.

I often field numerous questions as students apply, interview, and prepare for the Disney College Program. These questions come from current UW-W students, students from other institutions looking to earn credit from UW-W, and concerned family members of participants. Through this blog, you can get the latest updates on UW-Whitewater’s current recruiting season, tips from our student Campus Reps, and answers to your burning questions.

The process of packing up and leaving for Florida or California can be a nerve-racking one. The UW-W team understands this and is here to help. You can subscribe to this blog feed in order to get the latest updates from the team. Feel free to leave your thoughts or ask questions in the comments section of any post. Please do not hesitate to contact a team member with your questions as well. I also welcome your suggestions for additional content to be covered on this blog.
