NOTICE: Please Avoid Using Internet Explorer 8

Be aware that, at this time, Desire2Learn/Learn@UW does not support using Internet Explorer 8. Program Helpdesks and support staff are aware of several issues with IE8 that can make using D2L difficult or could adversely affect your ability to complete course work. All users should avoid using IE8 at this time.

For more information on this issue, contact your program’s helpdesk or the D2L Site Adminstrator.

D2L/Learn@UW Service Upgrade Complete

The upgrade to D2L/Learn@UW to version 8.4 is complete. More information on the upgrade including updated documentation where appropriate will be provided over the next week.

Changes to D2L should be largly cosmetic and should not affect your course work in any way. However, if you experience problems, please report it to the D2L Site Administrator . Thank you for your patience.

SERVICE OUTAGE ANNOUNCEMENT (MID/LATE JUNE)

D2L will be unavailable for an upgrade to the latest version of the Desire2Learn Learning Environment software, version 8.4 during the following times (all times are US Central Daylight Savings time [GMT -5])

From 10:00 p.m., June 24th
until 10:00 a.m., June 25th

INSTRUCTORS and PROGRAM ADMINISTRATORS: Please be sure to plan your training/course work accordingly. A major change to the functioning and look/feel of D2L is not anticipated. For training opportunities or concerns, contact the Site Administrator of your UW campus.

STUDENTS and PROGRAM PARTICIPANTS: D2L will be entirely unavailable. Make sure all course work and assignments needed are turned in before the upgrade process.

UW-Madison Network Maintenance Announcement (May 31)

Due to network maintenance on the UW-Madison campuss, D2L and streaming media services (used for audio and video in some courses) will be unavailable during the following times:

Sunday, May 31
from 12:00 am (midnight) until 8:00 am

RESOLVED: Sporadic Service Issues Friday Evening (5/15)

From approximately 4:40 pm until 5:30 pm, one server which runs the D2L/Learn@UW service began returning errors to users on login. The problamatic server was removed from service and logins should be back to normal. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Sporadic Service Issues (5/15)

We are aware that some users may be receiving service unavailable errors when trying to login to D2L. The first report was at 4:50 pm. If you experience a problem, report the problem to D2L Support and try to login using a different computer. Technicians are working to resolve the issue and more information will be posted as it becomes available.

My Courses Widget Change

If you are enrolled with different sets of permissions (”roles”), each course is grouped in a tab now. Example: You are enrolled as a student in many courses, but added as a guest into a course for tutoring purposes. Courses where you are a student will be on one tab. Courses where you are a guest will be on another.

Select My Courses example to enlarge.

Note: If you think you are missing a course, make sure to check other tabs. We apologize for any confusion this may have caused.

RESOLVED: Term Not Found Errors for Some from 7:00 - 8:00 a.m.

From 7:00 to 8:00 a.m. today (April 16th) users may have seen ‘TERM NOT FOUND’ errors after entering D2L/Learn@UW. The errors appeared as a result of a system problem after routine software updates that are usually carried out during the pre-scheduled maintenance window which occurs on Thursdays. We apologize for the inconvenience.

UPGRADE ANNOUNCEMENT: March 18th, 10:00 p.m. until March 19th, 10:00 a.m.

Learn@UW/D2L for UW System will be unavailable for system upgrades overnight. The upgrades will include bug fixes and will not change the fundamental way D2L operates. The outage times are:

From 10:00 p.m., March 18th.
Until 10:00 a.m., March 19th.

These dates and times were chosen because a majority of campuses in the UW system are away on Spring Break. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. Please plan your cours work accordingly.
