This exhibit examined the work of artists whose work involves abstract imagery in an effort to explore this challenging realm of the visual arts. Images by artists working at the turn of the new century will be shown with earlier works that set the stage for the present day. While many of the artists are active in the Midwest, Stephanie Weber lives and works in Berkeley, CA and Jay Kelly works in New York.
Exhibiting artist Paul Krainak will be on campus October 3rd for a guest lecture. Krainak is a faculty member at West Virginia State University; a former Director of N.A.M.E. Gallery in Chicago and a frequent contributor to the New Art Examiner.
Artists included in the show are: Roland Ginzel, John Himmelfarb, Richard Hogan, Douglas Holst, Jay Kelly, Paul Krainak, Anna Kunz, Jerome Powers, Dan Ramirez Jason Rohlf, Paula Schulze, and Stephanie Weber. Examples of selected works from the UW-Whitewater Permanent Collection by Michael Goldberg, Ron Gorchov, Carol Summers, Jerry Peart and Sam Gilliam and special loans of works by Robert Motherwell, Helen Frankenthaler, Louise Nevelson and Sean Scully from the Haggerty Museum of Art Collection from Marquette University will also be included.
