The Social Event Archive exhibit is a conceptually oriented display of photographs of individuals in a variety of social situations curated by Milwaukee artist Paul Drueke. As part of the exhibit, it is requested that visitors contribute their own photographs to the growing collection. A Social Event Archive is a collection of social occasion photographs contributed by the public. By tapping the photo albums of the public at large, the Archive gathers together a group of photos never intended for association. The photographs, archived in the order received, are then presented to the public as a traveling exhibition, website, and in books. A Social Event Archive is an ongoing project. “At its simplest level, the Social Event Archive is a straightforward salvage operation. Photographically arrested moments of life-flow are rescued from the pathetic, buried-in-a-shoe-box, lost-in-the-attic fates customarily assigned them. Introduced into the Archive, these souvenirs of different eras, locales, and gatherings are immersed again in a flow; as in the life-procession the photos bore witness to long ago, one moment is succeeded by another.” from the essay Party Platform by David Robbins, A Social Event Archive, Volume Three
