Bar Tour February 2019

On February 8, 2019, two friends decided to attend a bar tour in downtown Milwaukee because one had won tickets. Connor Moore and Devon Gille attended their first ever bar hop tour last Saturday and it was the most fun either of them have had since the new year started. No one could’ve asked for a better time between two friends.

Moore had won the tickets through the 102.1 WLUM-FM radio station contest and decided Gille was the one and only person he wanted to join him. “She were the first one on my mind,” Moore said, “I couldn’t think of anyone better to spend this time with.” What was just going to be another boring Saturday for both guests, turned into the most fun either one of them had in a long time. “We were just too excited for this and we even left early,” Gille said.

The two friends had no idea what bars they were going to that night or what they were getting themselves into when they headed toward McGillycuddy’s Bar on North Water Street in downtown Milwaukee, where all the stations bar tours start. A 102.1 dj met everyone involved at the bar and a Mr. Todd has been the leader for as long as the tour has been around, only a few years.

Average tickets for the tour are $32 a person and everyone must be 21 and older to participate because seven bars are included in the bus tour. For more details, visit the official bar tour website at http://www.fm1021milwaukee.com/secret-bar-tour/. A group of rowdy girls attended the event as well, along with many college students and even high school teachers that needed a little bit of a break. “We’ve never been on anything like this and we did it for her birthday,” said Candice Marsh, whom Moore and Gille met while on the tour and befriended.

Mr. Todd told all involved that the next tour will take place May 4th of this year and will make a stop at his house. Moore and Gille are planning to attend for Moore’s college graduation party. They say there are more bars to visit and more people to meet next time.

There are a total of four secret bar tours throughout a calendar year. To win tickets, listen to 102.1 radio station at specific times of day close to the event, or share the event on Facebook and a winner will be chosen. One can also buy tickets on the 102.1 website at http://www.fm1021milwaukee.com/.

Conclusion

A lot of time and effort went into this final project and I have learned a lot as an outcome. I have learned that I hate video and audio editing and that I find it very difficult to try to find a program to do what exactly I want it to do, however, no matter how much I stressed myself out over all of this, I think I might have succeeded decently. I have also learned new things about various new people and have learned things to do if I were ever to come across someone in their situation or if I happen to come into a similar situation myself in the future. I have learned from these women and I have learned other points of view on the topic as well. Although it was a stressful semester, I have learned a lot and know what I do not want to do in the future. I hope that my topic chosen was a good choice and I hope I did a decent job with my interview skills.
