Japanese Style Sesame Green Beans

I was inspired to recreate this recipe after attending UW Whitewater’s International Dinner. This was one of the side dishes for the dinner, and it was SO delicious, I knew I needed to learn how to make this.

For this side dish you will need:
-1 pound fresh green beans
-1 tablespoon canola oil
-1 1/2 teaspoon sesame oil
-1 tablespoon soy sauce
-1 tablespoon toasted sesame seeds

I couldn’t find any sesame seeds at the grocery store, so I made my dish without them, and they still turned out very tastey!

First, you will want to heat a large skillet over the stove on medium. Pour in the canola and sesame oil. Add the green beans to the skillet. Stir and flip the beans so that they are all evenly coated with oil. Cook the beans until they are a bright green color and the edges have turned brown. Cooking the beans took me about 10-15 minutes.

Remove the skillet from heat. Add in the soy sauce, stir the beans around so the sauce covers them evenly. Then cover the skillet with a lid or tinfoil and let the beans absorb the soy sauce for about 5 minutes.

After this, put them on a plate and sprinkle on the sesame seeds.

And voila! You not have a delicious, vegan side dish that pairs well with any meal.
