This week, our football team was recognized at several special events for earning the 2007 NCAA Division III Football Championship. Tuesday, they traveled to Madison and were recognized at the State Senate and State Assembly. A proclamation honoring them was adopted by each house. That evening, the Whitewater City Council honored them, and they received copies of resolutions read into the Congressional record in the U.S. Senate and in the U.S. House of Representatives. A representative from Senator Feingold’s office presented the Senate resolution, and a representative from Congresswoman Baldwin’s office presented the House of Representatives resolution. Kevin Brunner, city manager, presented keys to the City of Whitewater to the football team, Coach Leipold, Coach Perkins, Coach Berezowitz, and Justin Beaver. On Wednesday, Governor Jim Doyle, and his wife, Jessica, hosted a reception for the Warhawks at the Executive Residence. Governor and Mrs. Doyle had a chance to meet the players and coaches. The football team presented a championship hat and t-shirt, and a Warhawk jersey to Governor Doyle. Attached are pictures from this week’s celebrations.
