National Championship Track, Memorial Day, Home-Coming

Saturday, we had the pleasure of watching the final day of the NCAA Division III National Championship in track at UW-Oshkosh.  The day had a beautiful start, but rain in the middle of the afternoon soaked the competitors and their supporters.  Congratulations to the UWW men’s team on finishing 6th, and to the UWW athletes achieving All-America status: Dan Hytinen (twice), Brian Butzler, and Joe Boberschmidt.

Monday, after the parade, we attended the historical marker dedication for two Revolutionary War veterans who are buried in Oak Grove Cemetery (on East Main).  These are just two of forty-two Revolutionary War veterans buried in Wisconsin.  After the dedication, guides gave cemetery tours, telling brief stories about may of the founders of Whitewater.

I’m looking forward to the Whitewater Home-Coming celebration on July 1-4.  The Whitewater Home-Coming will be held in conjunction with the city’s Fourth of July celebration.  Events will be held in town and on campus.  More information about this event will be forthcoming.
