Whitewater City Market allows patrons to ease in the breeze

10/4/16

Downtown Whitewater just off Main Street every Tuesday all year round, local businesses come together to share their goods with the town.  This event catered with great food and drink along with all the goods you cannot get enough of.

Along with the local taste of music to top off this event, the market gives you an open and friendly feeling soon after arriving. Getting closer, you realize there are rows of tents filled with great looking prepared foods surely aimed to steal your heart.

All the great arrangements are serviced by great people who will make your shopping a breeze and soon, you are becoming less eager to leave.  The mood of the event is hard to describe but if you have experienced it like Kerwin,20, then it might be something like this, “I had a fantastic time all the food I had tried was amazing they had enough food to fill me up and plenty to bring home”.

The green light from a local soon became a trend as each person I had a chance to chat with had the same message for me.  I was stunned by the amount of local flare there is and just how strong the community bond is.

After a hour or so walking around, I was able to get to know some great people and got some great cooking advice well as some good laughs. Barbara,56, who I got to know who runs a meat market in St. Salem, had this to say about the city market,” I travel every day of the week for markets across Wisconsin and this one is like no other. People are so friendly and the community really comes out in support of their city it has been four years of me coming here and I still love it.”

There aren’t a lot of times where you can just show up some where and be as welcomed, fortunately for me and those around Whitewater, the city market is here to do more than fill an afternoon.  Along with all of the vendors, tours are given by the Whitewater Historical Society.

These tours are given in the very center of the market, talk about a one two punch. The tours are located at 301 W. Whitewater St, bring a curious mind and an empty belly as the market here just off main street is sure to fulfill your appetite.
