Free Agents

Now that baseball season is officially officially over, we now have to wait however many days until spring training begins. There’s not going to be as much news or updates unless a big trade rumor happens. Which just so happens that it is the topic of this week’s blog.

I had gotten an email from the MLB Morning Lineup a couple nights ago (and an email just recently), where it mentioned eight free agent players that people are underrating and each team’s biggest free agent after the 2020 season. The writers of the articles, Richard Justice and Will Leitch, both explain and go in depth with the leagues biggest free agents.

The first article written by Will Leitch, talks about the future of each MLB team’s biggest free agents for the 2020 season. I have to agree with him, it is never too early to start thinking about the future of the MLB seasons ahead of us and to think about what each team’s biggest free agents are, is pretty interesting. Some of the bigger names to note are:

  • Red Sox Mookie Betts (RF)
  • Twins Nelson Cruz (DH)
  • Rangers Shin-Soo Choo (RF)
  • Brewers Ryan Braun (LF)
  • CARDINALS Yadier Molina (C) who may actually want to extend his contract at the end of that year
  • Cubs Jon Lester (LHP)

The second article I read was relating to eight big free agents that people are underestimating. Written by Richard Justice, there were players on this list of “underrated” that actually surprised me. Don’t know how Howie Kendrick got number one on this list, but there he was. Especially after coming off a World Series win, I did not expect him to be on this list and would expect that with how he played this past season, the Nationals would be silly to not re-sign him. Other names include Marcell Ozuna (who the Cardinals would honestly be dumb to not let go), another Nationals player– Ryan Zimmerman and Eric Thames from the Brewers.

In all, it is crazy to see what names popped up for the 2020 season FA and the underrated agents. You wouldn’t think that players that literally just came off a World Series win with their team, that they would make it on a list for underrated.
